What do I expect on induction day?
Hi guys. Im on induction on Wednesday then start at the delivery office on Thursday. Email says to familiarise myself with the Welcome booklet PDF file which is 47 pages long. Im reading this now but will we be tested on the booklet? There's a lot to take in and not sure whether to try and write down key points incase we are tested or is it a case of them just going through the booklet, watching videos etc?

Re: What do I expect on induction day?
Hi
I can't remember being "tested" on the booklet, but it is good to read it to get some background information. We were put into pairs and there was a small test of numbers - how many mail items a day (or a year, can't remember), how many issues of Courier are sent a year (seriously, it was a question) and things like that - but it wasn't pass or fail. We introduced the person we were paired with, a bit like at school! Security was a big part, but it was all common sense really.
Very little to do with actually doing the job, all I remember was the correct way to pick up a pouch and how to push a York in a circle and put the brakes on and off. I think there were only 2 videos shown, although there were about a dozen on the disc they only showed a couple.
My induction day was at Croydon last year, I expect most go along similar lines.

Mostly common sense stuff, all i remember is if your are threatened with a knife hand the mail over, and apparently leprechauns are NOT a common danger found in letter boxes (yes my group got bored and started getting silly!)fb1969 wrote:

You will probably get a talk from a union rep inviting you to join up
It's more of an introduction to the business rather than an introduction to the job, full of facts and figures you wont remember.
