Hi there, I attended an interview on Wednesday, 19th September after passing the online tests for a temporary position of postman/woman/occasional driver. I have just received this email but I'm just a bit confused. I was told at the interview that if I'm successful, which I've just been informed I am,I will need to come back in for a 15 minute document check which I have just booked for next week. Now I have been invited for the document session I was under the impression I've more or less got the job subject to the checks. But in the email it says I will be asked to attend another more formal interview at a later date, something I wasn't told at the interview on Wednesday. Am I right in not getting too excited at this stage? Here is part of the email I received:
"We are pleased to advise you that your application for the position of Postman/Woman with Occasional Driving has successfully progressed to the next stage of our recruitment process.
We now wish to invite you to attend a Document Checking Session.
The Document Checking Session will last approximately 15 minutes and is designed to allow us to collect the necessary proof of Right to Work documents prior to a formal interview. If your documents are in order you will be given the details of the time, date and location of your interview at the session."

You're lucky you got an email!
Go there and go with the motions, not sure why it couldn't be all done in one hit.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Confused
My documents were meant to be checked the day I had the interview but the person doing the checking hadn't turned up.

Re: Confused
To be honest its a typical fault with Royal Mail. They have a letter that they HAVE to send out at a particular stage, even if the letter is inappropriate or inaccurate they still send it out as they have to follow a precise timetable and process. Its the same for Customer queries as well so I wouldn't read too much into it.

Re: Confused
Ok thanks. Well I took all my documents in today and was told subject to passing the checks there will be no further interview and I should get the job if they're happy with them. Just a matter of waiting now, I hope they don't take too long as the anticipation is killing me.

Re: Confused
Does anyone know how long it takes for the checks to be completed? It's been 8 days since my document checking session and I still haven't heard anything.

Re: Confused
No the checks depend on so many things, most of which we won't know about that its impossible to say with any certainty. However, with the ramping up for Christmas and the possible recruitment of 18,000 temps who will need checking, 8 days is a bit soon to be worried - I would say roughly 2 - 3 weeks would be normal.Barbel wrote:Does anyone know how long it takes for the checks to be completed? Re: Confused
Thanks for your reply. Just got an email to say I've passed the assessment but now I'm on a waiting list for 3 months. What exactly does that mean, and If I don't hear within 3 months will I then have to re-apply if there's any further jobs going? To say I'm gutted is an understatement as I wasn't told there was a possibility of going on any waiting list and I thought I had the job in the bag subject to the checks.

Re: Confused
Hi can anybody please help me.
on the 28th of september 2012 I went and applied for parcelforce multidrop driver Camden via a recruitment agency when filling out the application I was asked by the recruitment adviser if I had any convictions and I told him yes;( possession of cannabis in nov 15 2007 which I recieved a £100 fine & driving without a licence and insurance on 18.1.2008 which I recieved a 12 mths disql and £175 fine with tt99 endorsement & on 23.1.2008 I was also convicted of driving without a licence & insurance which I recieved a 6 mths disql & £100 fine with tt99 endorsement)
He then told me that was fine but I had to disclose my cannabis conviction but no need to disclose my driving convictions as they were off my licence. But I then told him politely that I needed to disclose my driving conviction as they were still unspent but he was adamant I didn't need to.( So I didn't Silly I know)
Two weeks later he phoned me to tell me I had failed to crb check & he seemed confused to why I did. Personally I believe it was because I didn't disclose my driving convictions was the reason but he remains adamant that's not the case.
Deep down I shouldn't of listened to him..
Am I right or wrong
