On waiting list but rejected

Post by Abrach »

Hi everyone.

A query.

I had an interview for Postperson with Driving and was placed on the waiting list on 29th March this year. At the interview, I was told no further interview or test would be needed and HR would be in touch. .

I looked and found a suitable vacancy advertised on 31 March..
I applied and had an email on 4th April saying I had failed as I didn't redo the online testing.

I sent an email to recruitment asking for clarification.

On 9th April, I got a phone call advising that it should not have happened, and i should have been put forward. However, that job had gone and the job had now been filled.

I said there was a second suitable location i was interested in with a suitable vacancy, and she put me forward.
This HR person advised there were 12 vacancies at ths location. She sent an email to the relevant HR dealing with it and copied me in. She wrote that " all documents are in order, on waiting list, good to offer position."

I did not hear anything for several more days and eventually emailed recruitment asking for advice. Eventually i got a reply saying DO manager had been contacted.

I heard nothing for another few days, sent yet another email to query, and got an email saying a meeting had been arranged on 22 April to
" discuss rotas and should be no longer than 30 minutes."

I arrived, met with the DO manager, a nice chap.
Walked around the sorting office, discussed letter and parcel arrangements, I mentioned my brother is currently a Postie elsewhere and i had been a Postie and then postal officer between 1982 and 1993. I was extremely familiar with current operating changes and procedures.
We agreed hours, rotas and a start date for 3 weeks hence. He said he would be contacting HR that afternoon. We shook hands, and I left. The whole matter took less than 15 minutes.
I assumed I would start in 3 weeks and told everyone i knew this was the case.

I heard nothing more for several days, In this time I sent 4 more emails to HR asking what was happening. Eventually i got a response that HR had requested a call from DO manager and would update me.

This was almost Immediately followed by a final email that I had not be progressed as i had not got the job following the "interview " and a stronger candidate had".

I am at a loss. I was told by the first manager at the initial interview and then in an email from HR initially there was no further interview to be done on the waiting list.

When i eventually got a meeting It went from a rota chat to a "suitability " discussion " to an "interview " and I had no understanding of this.

Anyone got any guidance on how to progress this?d
Does snyone have experience of this, is this how it is normally done or odd.

Any observations much appreciated .

Thank you all.

I'd read this board a bit more before considering wanting to pursue a job with a company that agency are no longer wanting to work for them, new starters not lasting a week and others like myself thinking of walking away from it for my own health and mental well being.

Perhaps it’s because of the buy out and a possible freeze on employment?

Hopefully your situation will improve back to how it was, I remember reading your recent posts about how they've shafted you, good luck.
