new starter , questions

Post by LegzAkimbo »

Hello Everyone ,

I'm starting as a postie next month (35hours) and i have a few questions

A question about the wage - im keen to work overtime what sort of wage can you be expected to get if i was to do a fair bit of overtime ? Is getting into the £30,000 - £40,000 a year wage common? ( if i was to put the overtime in)

and has anyone got any tips or tricks of the trade that will help me out.

thanks

Welcome. Unfortunately overtime has become scarce in the last few months, as RM tighten their strings, but you might just be in the right place at the right time and pick up a bit. £25-26k would probably be more accurate and achievable.

Best of luck.

30k maybe achievable with plenty of overtime, new entrants on a lower pay rate and don't get delivery supplement of £1500 for a ft worker on old t&c,
i earned 32k last year and reckon i must average 10hrs overtime pw,
unless you're keen and don't get phased with the job, or to be more exact how $hit you get treated and are an happy go lucky guy it's doable,
seen several new entrants who all seemed quite decent leave all down to unfair treatment, no incentive to stay anymore
i won't mention the union :left:

Let us know how it's going in December. It's far from easy to make money on OT now. Management will be begging you after Summer though, you'll probably be turning it down though lol

Decent insoles and when you can order them I recommend the bandera RM shoes

Document every single bit of overtime you do and check it when you get your payslip at the end of the month.
