Just had my first day after 10 months of agency and it is going to take some getting used to.
I have been working anything up to 7 days, adding working hours easily on an app so I get paid for all time worked and breaks. After a while, I was even on £12 an hour which seemed amazing for agency work. Getting time off was quite straightforward as well.
You do get dumped on a lot, expected to things contracted staff would do. No real training except a few 'watch out for dog' videos. And sent out delivering alone on the first day. It was a rollercoaster ride.
I accepted a contract for 24 hours to keep in work when all agency work was paused. In a suburb depo after working across 5 different depos or varying sizes. I thought it'd be a nice change of pace to work less hours, know what I'm working before a shift and get used to a few rounds assuming I'd be floating. In the 10 months, I've worked over 50 different rounds.
So far I don't really know what my contracted hours are, I'm guessing 8 - 2 over 4 days, though I'm automatically down for 5 days which is fine. My manager is away so I'm awaiting confirmation. I started at 7 today so I already started with the over time which I think will be abundant as I've only ever finished before 2 a handful of times, much more used to 4pm finishes. I wasn't working at my official depo, and then after starting to prep a frame got sent to a 3rd depo.
I'm not 100% sure how to submitted overtime yet, something I need to wort out tomorrow, I believe we need to email it in being out in the burbs with no managers. I miss the manpower app.
Anyway, when the overwhelming levels of parcels aren't causing my brain to have a meltdown I think it's quite a decent job.
Really enjoying reading all the helpful information.
