I'm glad its not just me who is having problems with the so-called dedicated onboarder. Mine had my driving licence details for a month before deciding I can't drive for RM because my middle name is not on my licence and until its corrected my start date will have to ve postponed. The licence is valid, I've driven using it when I was employed by RM via the agency and its never been an issue with any other employer. He's so dedicated he never responds to emails. They messed something else up earlier on in the process which was only sorted out when I went over their heads and emailed the DOM directly.

RM are outsourcing the recruitment process and its absolutely dreadful. They say please contact us if you have any questions but then they ignore emails and don't provide a contact number. I could go on but you get the picture, its woeful.
That’s ridiculous! Have you now started?

The ghosting is a joke, I asked a question yesterday three times and all I had back was- “Hi, Please re read my last email. Thanks”.

Same as you I’ve since gone to the DOM and things were sorted pretty much instantly. The whole process is a joke and it’s definitely made me feel a lot less enthusiastic about the role.

No I haven't started yet. I'll have to reach out to some normal people next week and try to get something done. The dedicated onboarder just completely ignores any emails. The last thing he said to me was he would be telling my manager that I will not be allowed to drive until my licence is ammended but I wonder if hes told him that its only a missing middle name thats triggered his "rain man" style reaction.

Even a polite email a month ago asking him if he now had all the documents he needs went unanswered. Its like they have contempt towards the job applicants and regard us as an inconvenience. Its frustrating and makes the whole process difficult.

Its nothing personal about being a job applicant, the attitude is exactly the same to existing employees. RM will never deal with a problem, they just move it somewhere else - in your case they probably have no idea what to do or say so they've gone for the 'head in the sand and hope you go away' method.

How did you go about rectifying the issue with the driving licence? In the same situation currently, never had a single issue with any other employer including in roles with driving but the onboarder is telling my they can't accept it because one of my middles names is missing. Apparently they will tell my manager I won't be able to drive until it is fixed, based on this logic I wont be able to drive to work either then! That will also be the second time I've updated my licence this month because I've just updated as the photo was going out of date so don't really want to spend more money to do it again, did you have to update the name on yours for them to accept it?

The real icing on the cake was how they approached this email, I'm on about email 5 or 6 with this onboarder at this point and in every email they have used their First Name and Last Name, but magically in the email where they are telling me my licence is missing a middle name and doesn't match my passport they use their full name including both their middle names which just felt quite condescending to be honest. They sent another email for something else 5 minutes after this one and it was straight back to firstname lastname. Maybe I'm reading into it too much but I feel like I'm being treated like a child here and I've not even started yet, its left a sour taste in my mouth towards the job already

This is just a precursor to what's to come for the rest of your employment at RM. Do yourself a favour and start looking for another job yesterday.

Yeah I dashed straight round to the post office and sent my licence off to DVLA by special delivery at my own expense because I was worried about losing the job. Sent it in as soon as it came back. At that point some recruitment manager emailed to say my dedicated onboarding was no longer with the business and someone else would be in touch. Shortly afterwards my application changed to unsuccessful on the jobs portal. So I emailed the DOM who'd interviewed me an reminded him he'd told me I'd been successful. It seems like he must have sorted it out because I got a start date soon after that.

Now I'm 5 months in the job and just been told theres a problem with my licence by a manager!! I've given him a DVLA check code so he can have a look for himself and see its a valid licence with no points on it. I've also let another manager photocopy the actual licence.makes me wonder if they've been letting me drive these last few months with no licence on file because apparently when an onboarder leaves the business everything on their laptop and emails is deleted

Welcome to RM. Just embrace the chaos and go with the flow. But also keep on top of them because as someone else pointed out if a problem arises it will be you that needs to be proactive because the company won't bother sorting it out
