QUADRANT PAY NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Dear Colleagues

Branches and representatives will be aware that the Quadrant pay review was due on the 1st October 2017.

Over recent months the department has been attempting through extensive and difficult negotiations with Quadrant Catering to achieve a package which rewards our members for their ongoing commitment to the company. The department is seeking to achieve a settlement that covers the cost of living rises during the duration of the deal and provides an exit rate which ensures that our National Pay Area C Grade members in particular, do not continue to be matched against the legal minimum with regard to pay rates.

In fact with regard to National Pay Area C Grade members’ rate of pay, it is now necessary for Quadrant to make a significant adjustment in order to remain compliant with the legal minimum hourly rate as determined by the Living Wage, which is presenting added complications in respect of the above approach and how this will impact on any final settlement that is achieved. The department understands that the adjustment will be paid to employees in their May salaries and that this alteration has been included in Pay Slips issued today.

It should be made absolutely clear however that this adjustment is not as a result of a negotiated settlement with the Union. The business will be increasing pay for National Pay Area C Grade members only at this time, in order to meet the legal requirement. However, it must be noted that the increase will clearly be incorporated into any final agreed settlement for National Pay Area Grade C members.

The department remains committed to achieving an agreed pay settlement which protects and rewards all of our Quadrant members. At the time of issuing this LTB, pay discussions are continuing with Quadrant and Branches will be kept updated as to developments.

Any enquiries in relation to this LTB should be addressed to Davie Robertson, Assistant Secretary, email: dwyatt@cwu.org or shayman@cwu.org quoting reference number: 301.06

Yours sincerely

Davie Robertson

Assistant Secretary
