RE: Romec Pay
Following a recent period of negotiations we have reached an agreed settlement with Romec which was unanimously endorsed by the Postal Executive last Friday 6th December 2013. A ballot paper with accompanying letter will be issued this week but for reference the offer provides for:
An 2.5% increase to basic pay backdated to 1 April 2013, flowing through to overtime and allowances including London Weighting
A lump sum payment equivalent to 0.5% of basic pay for all grades, payable immediately, linked to the commencement of the revision programme for cleaners.
The productivity payment of the cleaner's bonus will be protected until the end of June 2014 to allow talks to take place to revise the existing bonus, including revised productivity targets.
Talks will continue on various pay related issues, including potential consolidation of the 0.5% lump sum in the future, engineering bonus arrangements and terms and conditions for engineers TUPE transferred into Romec. Romec have also given a commitment to review pay terms for cleaners transferred into Romec under TUPE during 2012 once the position regarding the POL contract is known.
This offer keeps CWU represented cleaners at the upper end of the scale on cleaning terms and conditions and engineers and admin grades at or above market rate. Against the general background of an average 2% level of settlement across the economy with many workers in the industry facing pay freeze, the PEC believes that the offer is the best that can be achieved and is recommending a vote in favour of acceptance.
