Something odd has happened. I have received marketing mail (from EE) which is addressed to my home address but the name on the envelope is that of one of my Angard colleagues from the Mail Centre where I work.
She doesn’t have a common name (nothing like Jill Smith) so it seems a bizarre coincidence. She’s not on social media and we aren’t particularly friends so there is no place where her name and my address would exist on the same database except to do with our employment. We actually live in different cities.
Except for someone playing a practical joke - and that’s unlikely as no fellow staff members know my address - the only explanation would seem to be that the marketing company has a list of names and addresses of Angard staff members, and somehow in this case the name and address information has been transposed. Is this likely? Is somebody, somewhere selling on our data?

If they are then they would be in trouble with GDPR given the lack of consent.
I must admit though I have wondered as to when I signed up with Angard I did start to get ambulance-chasing calls e.g. been in a crash that was not your fault.
The mobile was clean as it was previously only used to test websites and not used for calls.
From memory, EE is the network RM use for the pdas.

I have been told by a reliable source who works for a recruitment agency that they do share information.
What makes this worse is many of them are doing video interviews and keeping it in their database which is shared with
other agencies/companies. He said himself this is problematic, because if you give a bad video interview or just
don't come across well for whatever reason you are simply disqualified from a lot of jobs as they just pull your record
with footage. No second chance to reinvent yourself, your bad first impression is there for all associated agencies to see.
I would agree with the GDPR statement in the original post but for whatever reason this doesn't seem to matter.
To that end I would advise people to avoid doing any kind of video based interview even if you are desperate.

It is option 3 on the phone system
They won't have a clue what you are talking about but they have to give you an email address for their manager or HR team.

Thanks for the information - I may just do that (except I don’t think they are manning that phone line at present!)
