Finished my first Late Shift in three weeks tonight.
Returned home to the following email:
“I understand that you were registered with Angard in the past and I wondered if you would be interested in returning for shifts in Gatwick MC? We are going to be running an event or two during week 11 June in order to bolster the pool numbers. We are going in to the quietest period of the year, so if you re-joined us I would be planning to provide 1 or 2 shifts a fortnight over the Summer and then begin to increase this as we get to the August bank holiday and then in to the Autumn period and Christmas peak. Shifts are typically Tuesday and Friday Nights, some weekends and some afternoons/early evenings.
If you would like to come to our event please let me know and I will send you an application form.
Yours sincerely
Sam Slatter
Senior Account Manager
ANGARD STAFFING “
I replied: “Thank you for your email.
I think that you should re-check your records.
I worked for RM for Christmas 2015 and 2016 and then joined Angard.
I have worked for you since February 2017, Personnel Number ####### - and continue to do so.
Indeed, I have just returned from a 18:15 until 22:15 Late Shift!
I usually work weekday Late Shifts but have, occasionally worked half-nights afterwards ober Christmas and occasional Saturday afternoon shifts.
I am only too well aware just how few shifts seem to be available to the existing pool of Angard Casual staff.
Tonight’s shift was my first in three weeks.
If you were to be able to increase the number of my shifts to one or two per fortnight, I would be delighted. I am distressed that the Company appears to be about to recruit more new staff - leaving me with even less possibility of obtaining shifts during this part of the year.
As you may be aware, local RM Management frequently telephone staff directly. How they make their selection is a mystery.”
Have Angard / their staff lost the plot totally?

Good response, if I'm honest, I don't know why you guys bother with them.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Several years ago, I and some of my "casual" colleagues were "employed" by Wankard even though none of us had signed contracts! So we had P45s & P60s stating that we had earned nothing! One friend even had her tax code changed because she was "working" for them. They couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery! Also, a friend of mine who does work for them & is AWR qualified, is constantly being screwed over holiday pay. So I have to agree with Postman.

because from my point of view its better than been unemployed and having to grilled like a little child at school in a jobcentre from expirience
also we all hang onto the dream that we will be giving a contract within the rm organisation
ive been on angaards books for near on 4 years and have gained lots expirience working doing eevry aspect of the job at my mc except the use of machines which angaard dont do
during my time there i have seen roughly 8 angaard workers taken on and giving contracts but as in every job it helps if you have a family member allready there or high up in the chain
clinging onto the dream that 1 day i will be lucky until then im a angaard employee contracted to work within rm on a zero hour contract and gaining more and more expirience
