Christmas Casual Start Dates
Hi, I'm new to the forum so I hope I haven't missed this somewhere but I'm a bit worried about my application for a christmas casual job. I applied through Royal Mail and not Angard but it says this is the forum for christmas casuals. I applied on 12/10/17 but my application status hasn't been updated since then and I thought that the start dates for Christmas were in mid-November and now it is mid-November but I haven't heard anything. Do you think they don't bother updating it if they don't want you to go to the next stage of the application?

Have you been told you've got the job?
They are very very slow at updates.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Have you been to the registration interview and been given an offer? When I worked as a Xmas casual for RM I didn't get an email confirming the job until 16/11 for a start date in December. The bulk of casual staff just get the first three weeks in December with some starting maybe a week earlier in November. The work can continue into January if it's really busy and they are happy with your work.

Thank you for replying, I tried to ring them but to no avail of course. No I haven't had any emails or anything.POSTMAN wrote:Have you been told you've got the job?

Thanks, it sounds like there is still hope then! I haven't had any contact from them, been for an interview or anything but maybe on Monday they'll get in touch. I'll be going home on Christmas Eve if I can finish on 23 December.tabact wrote:Have you been to the registration interview and been given an offer? You'd only get a start date if you had been invited to a registration day. Unfortunately if you haven't heard anything at all it's extremely unlikely you'd get any contact from RM this close to December.
It's probably too late to try via Angard because of the time security checks take but might be worth a look, minimum wage though when you first start.

I have a similar situation. After applying for a Christmas Casual at the Tyneside Collection Hub I received a reply on 14/9 saying they would be in touch and were processing my application. I can't reply back to that e mail address, so not sure what to do.
I suppose I haven't been successful but it would be nice to know.

Thans I guess that settles it then, I was thinking of going up to the centre to ask about it but it doesn't seem worth it. Thanks I might try Angard. I know, I thought they would say something because its not like they have to send me a letter just update the system. I should probably just get the dole or somethingtabact wrote:You'd only get a start date if you had been invited to a registration day.
