Rest periods

Hi to all, I am just enquiring as to the break times in mail centres across the country with regard to Angard staff, I am gathering together info for evidence of some Mail centres not giving the correct rest periods, thanks.

As far as I'm aware none of the mail centres give angard the correct breaks . If you are AWR qualified you're entitled to the same breaks/rest periods as RM staff , you are also entitled to have your breaks scheduled and paid for , if comparative full time staff receive this. For example if on a night shift that starts at 10pm and finishes at 6am (8 hours) Rm staff get 20 min break plus a 40 min break (1 hour) you are entitled to the same.
This just does not happen.

If you try querying this with Angard they will give you some bullshit about the unpaid breaks being built into the AWR hourly rate. If you say fine if that's so can you break down the hourly rate for me to show how this works you will then be ignored. The other excuse is breaks are decided by RM managers who in turn will tell you they are set by Angard.

At my mail centre it is up to 4.25 hours no official break and paid in full. Over 4.25 hours a 30 minute break which is unpaid. Night shift is one 40 minute break but only stopped 30 minutes pay. So the agreement between Royal Mail and Angard for this mail centre must be a 30 minute break although the actual total breaks taken can be longer depending on the RM managers. Some shifts you get the same breaks as RM staff.
