I was due to start tomorrow at 7am, got a confirmation text but today I got another text saying confirmed shift, tomorrow at 2. I assume my shift got moved?

Just another quick question, can I ring any number to book a shift? I've had 2 texts concerning shifts and been asked to ring an 02 number but it's always busy. I tried it about 20 times yesterday.

20 times . Thats nothing mate, I have done over 100 several times. The 08 number is usually fine.

I will try that next time. Does it look bad in Angard's view if you don't phone for shifts? As I said I couldn't get through on 2 occasions for shifts that they text me and I haven't heard anything since. Or is that normal? I've not heard anything for a week and I've only worked 1 shift so far.

they will just presume that you don't want to work and will only call you when its your 'turn'. But being as the people who want to work will always phone in daily, that might not happen often this time of year. I was with Angard three weeks before i found this out. Give them a bell. (unless you are at Chester mail centre, in which case dont bother as I want your shift )

Actually it is true. It simply depends on how the Angard (Reed) phone drone decides to run the shift allocation for wherever you work. Some try to do it fairly and give everyone a chance at shifts, some just ring those who they know will usually accept a shift. Some say 'dont ring us wee will ring you, some let you ring them and hustle for shifts. Neither ways are fair, I have twice heard people at work saying they didnt want to work, but as they were rang thought they had better say yes. (their shift should have gone to someone who wanted to work) Reed have no set way of doing it and dont care as long as the shifts are filled.
