UK delivery company Hermes has introduced a contactless delivery system called MyPlaces. It also improves first time delivery rates as it offers customers options should they not be in.

Should the customer not be at home they can upload a picture to show the courier where to place the parcel.

Later this year the system will use What3Words to give an exact location to the courier. Plans also include setting a preferred ParcelShop & Locker location.

The Hermes MyPlaces system is available through the MyHermes app.

Chris Ashworth, CIO at Hermes, said: “MyPlaces is the latest innovation from Hermes designed to promote delivery accuracy and give consumers more choice and control over their deliveries, whilst ensuring that safety remains a key priority. It is particularly useful for customers with addresses that are hard to find both in busy cities but also rural locations.”
