Australia Post Enterprise Agreement resoundingly endorsed by employees

Australia Post has convincingly secured a new EBA for its 29,500 Award level employees with a 74 per cent majority of employees voting 'Yes' for EBA2017, which offered a guaranteed 6 per cent pay increase over three years and protection of key existing terms and conditions of employment.

The strong result demonstrates the overwhelming support from the national workforce.

Australia Post also agreed to continue the commitment for the life of EBA2017 to no forced redundancies for any employee impacted by reform of letters, provided they are looking for another job in the business, and an additional $22 million to fund skills training for frontline employees.

This EBA is the third secured under Managing Director & Group CEO Ahmed Fahour's tenure, and once again, there was no industrial action during the negotiations.

"EBA2017 will give our people certainty and security so that we can continue investing and growing to transform into an eCommerce delivery and services provider. It also means that we can maximise meaningful jobs so our business continues to be a great place to work."

The EBA2017 offer was formally endorsed by the national office of the Communication, Electrical and Plumbing Union (CEPU) and the Community and Public Service Union (CPSU), which together represent over half of Award level staff at Australia Post.

Since 2010, and over the last three EBAs, there has been no lost time due to industrial action, evidence of the strong and productive relationship between Australia Post and representative unions.

The EBA2017 vote was conducted independently by the AEC. Australia Post EBA2017 will now be lodged with the Fair Work Commission for approval.
