Delivery details were surprisingly elaborate considering no name or address were on the envelope

AN Irish mum got a shock yesterday when a Christmas card posted to a ‘not-so-official-address’ found its way to her.

Nicole Lally (otherwise known as yer wan, her mother’s Hogan) recounted her tale that left her “amused/mortified” on Facebook in a message to An Post.

She attached pictures of the envelope with the hilarious description that came with it.

I was amused/mortified when the postman showed up this morning and hand-delivered this Christmas card from my friend who was delighted to have made a holy show of me! Thanks to my local postman Celcius who knew immediately who to deliver the card to when the supervisor read out the "address". Absolutely made my day, An Post have been great sports to find me, cheers!

She thanked her quick thinking local postman Celcius “who knew immediately who to deliver the card to when the supervisor read out the ‘address’.”

While Nicole said it “made a holy show” of her, she added it made her day, and called An Post “great sports to find me.”

Nicole’s postman knew who the letter was for immediately
If you can’t decipher the handwriting, here is a rough translation:

“You know yer wan, her mothers Hogan from Castleblakeney, but the daughter’s an ex-townie.

“Grew up in Athlone and moved to Ballymacward (Between Ballinasloe and Galway) when she got married.

“Lives next door to her in-laws now. She has a rake a’ childer and 7 dogs and 4 cats and about 30 hens and ducks and some rabbits and fish and i think she has a hamster as well.

“She has a shrine to the Virgin Mary in the left corner of her garden.

“Can you give her this please?

“Thanks xxx”
