IS THIS AN INSURANCE SCANDAL

Post by whattheheck »

thought that might have alerted you :nana

What would happen if RM had thousands of drivers on the road delivering & they were not insured to do so

Well I have a friend who took a Hermes neighbourhood courier job delivering parcels in her local area using her own vehicle .

She was told that for 55p per day she was insurance covered , but she has since found out that that insurance only covered her for Goods In Transit .

Her car insurance was up & when she went to renew she told her insurance company ( Hastings ) that she has changed her job & was delivering parcels .

Hastings then said that "we cant insure you " , you need specialist business insurance for that & we dont do that :arrrghhh

So you cant deliver parcels on your own insurance policy !!

She then went on the internet & came across a blog were it said there could be as many as 5 Million people from couriers to Avon ladies To Pizza delivery drivers etc etc
That are driving around with the wrong insurance & that there car insurers wont pay out if they needed to claim .

You could have an accident or the Police could stop you & they would know instantly that you didnt have the correct insurance in place for the job that you were doing

She checked with other Hermes couriers & none of them had any additional Insurance cover for Parcel Deliveries .

So where does that leave all the Hermes / Yodel etc etc couriers who are doing this type of work without the proper insurance :funneh

She had to give up because of it , she was quoted more than £1200 & some where even more .

So Mr Policeman next time you see a car laden with parcels that you cant see out of the back window remember they are not insured

Perhaps RM should highlight this scandal & let the big internet giants like Amazon / Shop Direct / Next etc etc know how these companies operate .

They might have the correct insurance in some cases!
