The mail company said the individual who discarded mail in a conservation area has been sacked and it is looking at pressing charges

Police are investigating after volunteer gardeners found bags of mail which should have been delivered by TNT post, dumped in green spaces in Eastcote.

The Friends of Eastcote House Gardens said they had discovered the post during their conservation and gardening sessions in Long Meadow and Forge Green over the past two weeks.

In a statement, a TNT Post spokesperson told getwestlondon: " The individual who committed this crime had been with the company for a short period of time and was dismissed immediately.

"The Police are looking at the case and at pressing charges. This behaviour is totally unacceptable and does not reflect the dedication and hard work of the vast majority of our employees."

The spokesman said the mail was collected within two hours of TNT Post being notified of the incident - and that it was delivered immediately after.

"Mail security is a top priority of the firm with 98.5% being delivered on first attempt," the spokesman said.
