Customer waits weeks for parcel delivery....because Anglesey is an island

A FRUSTRATED customer waiting for a parcel delivery says he was told the item may be delayed because Anglesey is an island.
Tony Schleising-Chaplin, 48, ordered a hub cap for his Peugeot car and was expecting it to arrive at his Llanfaethlu cottage on February 7.
But as the days dragged on, with no sign of the parcel, he made several calls to delivery firm Yodel.
Staff gave a number of explanations for possible reasons for the delays.
The most amazing was that as Anglesey was not on the mainland this could cause “considerable delays”.
This is despite the two famous bridges over the Menai Strait and the fact Yodel until recently had its own depot at Gaerwen on the island.
Tony said: “For one of the only times in my life I was lost for words.
“I eventually said ‘I have just seen one of your vans, how did he get here, by raft?’ I could not believe it.
“I now know what the delay is, they are obviously waiting to book the ferry to Anglesey.”
Yesterday he was still waiting for the item to arrive and had now been told it was delayed at the firm’s depot in Shaw.
Yodel, who still has a base at Llandudno Junction, responded, with a spokesman saying: “Yodel delivers approximately 150 million parcels a year and unfortunately there are sometimes occasions when we are unable to complete a delivery as scheduled.
“We would like to apologise to Mr Schleising-Chaplin for any inconvenience or confusion caused surrounding this delivery.
“We would like to clarify that there should be no delays to our deliveries to Anglesey.”
Tony says the problem highlights failures by delivery firms to provide a prompt and reliable service.
He said: “Many firms are wasting people’s time and money by getting them to stay in all day waiting for items that sometimes don’t arrive. It must cost the economy millions.
“If this delivery had been for a business then it would have cost me money. It is very frustrating for customers and I feel we have no comeback with these companies.”

Re: Yodel strikes again....because Anglesey is an Island
Tony should be thanful he doesn't live across in Holyhead, as that's on an island off the island of Anglesea
but Yodel could realise that Britain's an island so that could explain EVERY failed delivery.
