TNT Post has teamed up with parcel network CollectPlus to offer e-retailers throughout the UK the opportunity to drop off parcels for international delivery at one of the 4,800 CollectPlus stores.
Now medium sized web merchants will be able to easily send their international items worldwide with TNT Post by dropping them off at their local corner shop.
The new service from TNT Post makes sending international parcels easily accessible for small to medium sized UK-based web merchants. The 4,800 CollectPlus stores are open till late, 7 days a week and this suits the needs of smaller e-retailers who fulfil online orders throughout the week and wish to drop those off at a point nearby. Currently, over 80% of the UK population is within a mile from a CollectPlus location.
Bob van Ierland, Director International Parcels of TNT Post, says: "Already 30% of all online cross-border trade in Europe comes from the UK. In addition, a majority of online entrepreneurs in the UK plan to expand internationally within the coming 12 months. They will need access to international shipping services around the corner. This is why TNT Post’s global distribution capabilities, together with CollectPlus’ dense and accessible drop-off network makes a strong combination. We are delighted to work with CollectPlus to further support growth of international e-commerce from the United Kingdom."
“We’re proud to provide TNT Post access to our 4,800 CollectPlus stores, making it easier for small businesses in the UK to benefit from the scale of global delivery networks by simply being able to drop off their international packages and parcels at their local corner shop” says Mark Lewis, CEO of CollectPlus, “This is a great first step to developing an integrated international offer for CollectPlus customers; it demonstrates our commitment to providing a convenient and reliable parcel service in the UK but also recognises the growing need for businesses to operate on a global scale as well as a greater demand from consumers for more choice”

Re: TNT Post launches international parcel service for SME
Being sad i've gone through the motions here....
On the collectplus website it's gonna cost me £4.99 for up to 5kg,del aim 3-5 days.......tracked.
On the RM website it's gonna cost me £13.80 1st class or £12.30 for standard parcel 5kg del aim 3 days.......not tracked.
I think i've done everything right.
Smaller 'jiffy bag' type stuff i'm guessing RM would be cheaper on most but it wouldn't be tracked, the larger up to 5kg collectplus is cheaper.
I had to use my local collectplus the other day to send my broadband thingie back,it was easy,if the que for the shop was exactly the same as a PO which is next door then it wouldn't matter because as a rule the PO bods take longer to serve their customers as they are not just buying a packet of fags or a paper ect.
My personal conclusion..............we're f****d!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
