The world’s largest direct mail company, Quadriga Art is being investigated by the US Senate Finance Committee after a letter seeking detailed financial information about its finances was received by the company.
The US based company that calls itself the global leader in direct marketing and creative services, offers nonprofit organisations, fundraising agencies and commercial brands innovative direct marketing campaign solutions that ‘produce extraordinary results’.
However, there are now emerging charity groups across the US that claim they have found themselves thousands of dollars in debt to Quadriga Art.
News about the investigation comes after a recent related charity group in the US for the Disabled Veterans National Foundation was also under scrutiny for their finances by the Senate.
A client of Quadriga Art, a small charity group in New Mexico has found itself owing the company more than $5 million as a result of a failed fund-raising campaign.
According to a report by CNN who has been covering the news for months, Quadriga Art ultimately forgave the debt of $5.3 million. CNN says only happened after they began their investigation. Quadriga says it tried its best but the campaign was a failure.
Other clients of the company include ‘Help the Children’, a charity group based in Los Angeles. Its mission, it says, is to feed 130,000 families a month. In an interview with CNN, its CEO, Roger Presgrove said it too was in debt to Quadriga Art of about $285,000 at one point.
Pregrove later admits that he had emailed Quadriga to say unless he was let out of that contract, he would go to CNN with his story. And within an hour of making that threat, a Quadriga executive agreed saying that “it is in everyone’s best interest to end this and move on.”
A public relations representative from Quadriga later accused CNN of forcing Presgrove out of his hospital room who was still on drugs following a medical procedure. The representative claimed that Presgrove’s statements weren’t to be taken seriously and should not be broadcast because he was “unaware” of what he was saying.
