Syndicom, UNI Post & Logistics Global Union's affiliate in Switzerland, has staged a protest at the Daillens sorting centre

In response to the decision by Swiss PostLogistics to cut 250 jobs in Switzerland, Syndicom, UNI Post & Logistics Global Union's affiliate in Switzerland, has staged a protest at the Daillens sorting centre. This sorting centre is the most affected in the Swiss Romande region with 24 layoffs. Syndicom says the decision by PostLogistics SA, to cut 250 jobs in Switzerland cannot be justified while the Post has made a Swiss Franc 904 million profit in 2011 of which 151 million (for a turnover of 1, 49 billion) was generated directly by PostLogistics!

PostLogistics wants to turn its employees into self employed contractors supposedly "independent" but linked to a single company: PostLogistics, to lower their working conditions. Syndicom also notes with dismay that, along with announcing the dismissals, Swiss Post has signalled its intentions to attack postal workers wages and conditions in their soon to be re-negotiated collective contract. The proposed attacks include increased hours of work, up to 46 hours weekly, with less holidays, lower starting salaries, and worse social benefits. Syndicom will fight for a single collective contract for all staff working under the label of the Swiss Post Office including PostBus and PostLogistics and all their subcontractors.
