POST Office workers in Gauteng will down tools in a bid to force the SA Post Office to terminate contracts with labour brokers.
About 1,000 workers throughout the province, who are employed by the post office through labour brokers, have been on strike demanding permanent employment.
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) yesterday said they would march because the employer has not shown willingness to concede to the workers' demands.
"We are intensifying our mass action against this exploitative system of labour brokers. Our members who are permanent employees of Post Office have pledged to join the march in solidarity with the plight of workers, who are employed by labour brokers," said CWU spokesman Matankana Mothapo.
Sowetan understands the SA Post Office has been holding meetings with labour brokers to devise ways of resolving the strike.
Post office group executive in the mail division, Janras Kotsi, yesterday said the mail delivery section division, particularly street deliveries, was the most affected.
