A DELIVERY worker was left with fractured bones in his face after being mugged when leaving work in Woolston last night.
Cheshire Police say the 39-year-old man had left Yodel on Hardwick Grange at 6.10pm when a group of four or five men attacked him.
They punched and kicked him repeatedly before taking his mobile phone, wallet and car keys.
The gang then stole the victim’s black Ford Focus ST.
He was taken to Warrington Hospital and treated for serious facial injuries.
X-rays showed multiple fractures to his cheek bones and cuts to his lips.
He will be transferred to Aintree Hospital for further treatment today.
A spokesman for Yodel said: "We are shocked by this unprovoked and violent attack on our colleague.
"The safety of our workforce is of paramount importance to us and we are doing all that we can to assist the police with their investigation.”
DS Adam Ross said: "The victim′s distinctive car was driven away from the scene and we are also appealing to anyone who might have seen the car in the Woolston area to get in touch.
"We are trying to establish the route that the car took after it fled the scene.
“We believe it was in the Gemini area around the petrol station near to M&S and we are urging anyone who might have seen the car in this area to come forward."
The offenders are described as around 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build and all were wearing balaclavas.
Anyone with any information can call police on 101.
