The axing of News of the World will slash DHL's volumes with News International by more than two million newspapers a week.
The shock News International announcement yesterday that it is ceasing its tabloid Sunday publication from 10 July, is likely to hit revenues at logistics giant DHL Supply Chain, which manages the distribution of the print title.
DHL was awarded a five-year multi-million pound contract with News International to handle distribution of The Sun, The Times, News of the World, and The Sunday Times in November 2009, based from a hub in Edmonton, North London.
A spokeswoman for DHL tells Roadtransport.com: “With the news breaking less than 24 hours ago, this is a rapidly changing situation and it would be inappropriate to speculate on what impact this may have on our business.”
As part of the logistics contract, DHL delivers 25 million newspapers each week from four print plants to 68 wholesalers across England and Wales. Of the weekly consignments, 2,812,005 are News of the World newspapers.
The closure of the 168-year-old newspaper comes after a series of phone hacking allegations.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

ps
That security shed at the entrance to the site at Virginia Road/Pennington St ? looks like the same shabby building that I remember being there some 25 years ago.
