Halifax postal workers not letting managers into work

Canada Post managers aren’t being allowed to cross the picket line this morning at the Halifax office on Almon Street.
Postal workers will be starting back to work later today because of government legislation ordering the locked-out workers back to their jobs.

The postal workers don’t have to be back at work until 4 p.m., so when Canada Post managers showed up on Monday morning to go into the office, the picketers refused to let them pass.

Halifax Regional Police were on scene and around 9:30 a.m. the managers decided not to cross the picket line. The picketers numbered in the dozens.

Letter sorting should resume at some point on Monday in preparation for delivery on Tuesday, Canada Post chief operating officer Jacques Cote told the senators on Sunday after they gave who gave the legislation their stamp of approval. - with files from Jennifer Taplin and Canadian Press
