City Link will benefit from being one of GFS’ recommended parcel delivery companies

City Link has joined the courier network of Global Freight Solutions (GFS) as it attempts to return to profitability. The new partnership will provide GFS with access to approximately 2,500 City Link vehicles.

GFS, a parcel and carrier manager, handles several million items each year for customers in the financial services, technology, baby products, leisure and automotive industries.

While GFS regards the agreement as ‘another major step forward’, City Link ‘seeks to further evolve the range of delivery options offered to its clients’.

City Link, which is part of Rentokil Initial plc, reported a 13.4% drop in revenue to £72.3 million in the first quarter (Q1) of 2011, relative to the same period in 2010. During Q1 2011, the Company recorded an operating loss of -£10.7 million, from -£4.4 million recorded in Q1 2010. However, having recently invested in a new online client tracking service ‘My City Link’, the Company hopes to recover its losses by the end of Q4 this year.
