Postal employees were due to launch an overtime strike action citing several demands starting from today, Trade Unions Federation of the postal service said.
This strike had been organized with ten demands in mind including the immediate removal of the Postmaster General, solutions to the problems of workers, preventing the privatization of the postal service, taking disciplinary action against errant postal officers irrespective of their status, said the media spokesman of the Trade Union Federation. K.M. Chinthaka Bandara yesterday (4).
“This is the first step of the trade union action which would be extended islandwide if needed to win our demands. The postal strike in January was called off after the government promised to look into our grievances. However they had not given solutions to those demands as yet”, he said.
According to him about 18000 workers including workers of the Central Postal Exchange (CPO) would participate in the strike from today (5), adding that there were seventeen trade unions supporting the strike action.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
