A warrant has been issued for a Forest Hill man who failed to appear at Tower Bridge last Thursday on a charge of causing a death by careless driving.

Li Han Tran, 32, was also listed to answer an allegation of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and causing death by driving a vehicle in Peckham High Street in July 15 last year.

The hit and run incident allegedly led to the death of Nigel Sloan, with the 65-year-old initially suffering pelvic injuries at the scene, before dying two months later in hospital.

The pensioner was cycling on the day in question when the collision took place with a City Link van near the junction of Peckham Hill Street.

At a hearing on January 18, Tran, of Queenswood Road, entered not guilty pleas to causing death by driving and causing death by careless driving. He entered no plea to failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
