Manx postal workers are to be balloted on strike action for "the first time in living memory", the Communication Workers Union (CWU) says.
The union, which represents 250 workers, is seeking a pay rise despite a pay freeze across the public sector.
Isle of Man Post Office has confirmed that union pay talks are "exhausted within the constraints faced".
The CWU's Terry Pullinger said: "We are looking at industrial action unless the company comes back with an offer."
He added: "Postal workers in the Isle of Man have now had enough.
"Isle of Man Post Office is profitable and performing well, but staff have had no pay rise in the last two years, which is blatantly unfair".
A spokesman from Isle of Man Post Office said: "Like the majority of island and worldwide businesses, the Post Office is approaching the current economic situation in a responsible manner in order to protect the future prosperity of the Post Office, jobs and postal services against the backdrop of significantly declining mail volumes."
