MEMBERS of the Island's postal service have bared all for a naked calendar which will raise money for four Island charities.

Postmen and women from around the Island have stripped off for the Calendar Girls inspired calendar with their modesty only covered by strategically placed postal props.

Paul Henry, assistant delivery manager for Isle of Man Post, said: "We hope no-one will be offended by it and will take it in the good humour in which it is intended.

"As well as having the models in-house the project also allowed us to use the talents within the business in terms of a photographer and designer.

"Everyone involved has had great fun and we hope the calendar will be popular and raise valuable funds for charity."

Proceeds from the calendar will go to four Island charities which have personal ties to the staff involved.

Postman Steven Moore chose Riding for the Disabled which helps his daughter Natasha who has cerebral palsy. The charity provides riding lessons at Pennybridge Stables in Kirk Michael and helps disabled people develop life skills, experience the outdoors and connect with animals.

Craig's Heartstrong Foundation was chosen after Ben Bowman, a postman based in the Southern Sorting Office, died in September. His family and colleagues chose the charity which raises money to fund heart screening of men and women between the ages of 14 and 35 to help prevent Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS).

The manageress of Ramsey Post Office Sharon Maddrell chose Isle of Man Breast Care – a charity which provides emotional and practical support to breast cancer patients and their friends and families. Sharon beat breast cancer in 1995 and is now the chairman of the charity which campaigns for better breast cancer awareness.

Retired postman Steven Buttery, an active member of the Douglas Lifeboat Station, chose the RNLI – a charity completely sustained by donations and volunteers which offers 24 hour search and rescue around the Island's coast.

Calendars cost £5 each and are A4 size opening up to A3 size when hung. They are available from Regent Street and Ramsey Post Offices, the Postal Headquarters in Douglas and Shoprite stores.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
