Finland - Postal Deliveries Returning to Normal

Postal deliveries in Finland are returning to normal after workers and employers reached a contract deal on Sunday evening.
However it is likely to take several days before service is fully restored in large towns. In rural areas, the situation is expected to be back to normal by Tuesday.
The postal dispute that has led to walk-outs, spot strikes and delays in mail deliveries over the past few weeks.
Union and employers' representatives both immediately accepted a compromise proposal put forward by national conciliator Esa Lonka. The two-year deal includes a one-percent pay rise next year.
The government helped pave the way to a settlement by announcing that it is ready to make adjustments to pending postal services legislation, if it would help unions to accept contract terms.
The changes concern requirements for delivery services in order to reduce union concerns that members would have to do significantly more night shifts.
