NamPost and the two divisions of Deutsche Post DHL – DHL Express Namibia and DHL Global Mail – have recently launched the first International Mail Processing Centre in Africa. The companies have signed a three-year partnership deal which has resulted in a mail centre that will serve as a mail off-set point from Africa into the rest of the world.
The minister of information and communication technology, Hon. Joel Kaapanda, officially launched the International Mail Processing Centre in Windhoek. In his speech, Kaapanda said the International Mail Processing Centre in Windhoek is not only the first for Namibia, but also a first for the African continent. He said: “The International Mail Processing Centre which we are launching is a living testimony that Namibia and Germany have moved a step ahead in strengthening their bilateral economic co-operation."
The cooperation between NamPost and Deutsche Post DHL will enable NamPost to introduce new services, such as cross-border hybrid mail services and printing solutions using the existing Hybrid mail centre infrastructure.
