Swiss Post to Launch Digital ID Service

Swiss Post is rolling out a digital identity program called SuisseID throughout the country in May.

Targeted primarily at business customers, SuisseID is designed to provide users with fast access to a secure digital identity to access online services and conduct transactions with each other electronically.

SuisseID will be available in the form of a regular chip card, a mobile key for secure digital communications or as an integrated solution.

The chip can be inserted into a secure USB stick that provides various applications and enable users to sign documents electronically with legally binding signatures and send them electronically in encrypted form via registered mail.
