Once again this year, Swiss Post delivered millions of Christmas parcels to Swiss households on time: thanks to the commitment of its employees, the company processed around 15 million packages in the pre-Christmas period. Parcel volumes reached their peak in the week before Christmas when one million parcels were going through sorting centres each day. Just as in previous years, Swiss Post will still be forwarding parcels for those in need to the Swiss Red Cross free of charge as part of the "2 x Christmas" campaign until 9 January.
Peak loads are the order of the day at Swiss Post throughout the Christmas period. Our employees have outdone themselves: between 1 December and Christmas, Swiss Post employees at the sorting offices in Daillens, Frauenfeld and Härkingen processed around 15 million parcels. Their considerable commitment visibly underlined the high performance of the company. On normal working days, around half a million parcels pass through the parcel centres: in the week before Christmas, this figure rose to one million parcels per day. Because customers addressed the majority of their Christmas parcels correctly and posted them in good time, the pre-Christmas parcel processing operation went off without a hitch.
"2 x Christmas" once again
Another demonstration of Swiss Post employees' special commitment during the Christmas period is their contribution to the "2 x Christmas" campaign, a joint project also involving the Swiss Red Cross and SRG SSR idée suisse, which is taking place for the 13th time this year. Swiss Post is collecting gift parcels at its counters until 9 January and delivers these to the Swiss Red Cross free of charge.
The aid organization distributes the gifts to needy people in Switzerland and in war-torn and economically deprived regions of eastern Europe. Suitable contributions include non-perishable foods, everyday goods, toys for children and money that can be donated to refugee families or put towards funding soup kitchens for the poor, for example. Parcels can be donated at any Swiss Post counter. Well you wouldn't want to piss them off, everyone in Switzerland has an automatic weapon

And it now transpires that the the Swiss weren't as 'neutral' as they claimed during the second world war.

correct whilst us and the American were bombing Schweinfurt and other Ball Bearing sites, the Swiss were taking money from the UK and US not to sell them to the Nazis and still selling them anyway.Lounge Lizard wrote:And it now transpires that the the Swiss weren't as 'neutral' as they claimed during the second world war.
