Cutbacks announced at Swiss Post

The postal service has announced cutbacks or closures for 84 post offices. The fate of 114 of them were on the line, and over 300 more will be under evaluation by 2011.

A number of local governments, as well as the union for postal workers, worry that universal service won’t be guaranteed.

The post office says restructuring’s needed since the number of letters has dropped by half since the beginning of the decade.
