DHL - Drivers' jobs to go as office closes

A TRANSPORT office in Barton-Upon-Humber is closing, with 18 drivers set to be redeployed.

DHL Supply Chain's premises, at Falkland Way, are to close from November 1.

The decision was made after a review with the Kimberly-Clark plant, to which DHL provides its services.

But the company says the 18 drivers can be redeployed elsewhere in the country.

A spokeswoman for DHL Supply Chain said: "Following a detailed review with its customer, DHL Supply Chain can confirm that its Transport Office at Barton-Upon-Humber will be closed as of November 1.

"DHL is now preparing to undergo a period of consultation with the 18 affected employees at the site with the aim of redeploying them within the group."

The spokeswoman added that the affected employees would be offered jobs across the country and it would be up to them to choose where to go.
