EU Clears CVC To Take Stake In Belgian Postal Operator

BRUSSELS (Dow Jones)--The European Commission Monday cleared Luxembourg-based private equity firm CVC Capital Partners to get joint control of the Belgian postal service De Post NV/La Poste SA together with the Belgian government.

CVC now owns 50% minus one share of De Post/La Poste, with the Belgian state remaining the majority shareholder.

CVC previously shared its stake in De Post/La Poste with Danish postal service Post Danmark, in which CVC also owned a minority stake.

Following the April decision to merge Post Danmark with Sweden's postal operator Posten AB, CVC sold its stake in Post Danmark.

As part of the transaction, CVC acquired all of Post Danmark's share in De Post/La Poste.
