Evri fails to deliver five parcels to Shirley flat 6 hrs ago Business People Southampton

An Evri driver has been fired after five parcels were delivered to the wrong addresses over a fortnight, leaving a Shirley woman on the verge of tears.

Dani Mariner, 41, was expecting deliveries from courier firm Evri over the same two-week period.

She said she began receiving notifications that the parcels had been delivered, but the accompanying photographs showed them left outside other people’s homes.

Describing the repeated delivery failures as “disgusting,” Dani said the situation left her increasingly distressed.

Dani said: “When the first delivery didn’t arrive, I was annoyed but thought it might have been a mistake.

“When the third was delivered to the wrong address, my blood was boiling, and when the fifth didn’t arrive, I was on the verge of tears.

"I am so angry, and I think something needs to be done because they can’t keep getting away with this.”

Dani said four of her parcels were pictured outside four different addresses, while one delivery photo showed a blank screen.

“One of the photos actually showed someone accepting the parcel while holding back two black dogs. I live alone and have three cats, so there is no way that could have been me,” she added.

She also criticised Evri’s communication, describing it as “terrible.”

Dani said she had initially tried to contact the company through its automated service and requested an email response, but was told to check around her property, ask neighbours if they had received the parcels, and contact the retailer she had ordered the items from.

“Everything they said to do, I had already done before making contact with Evri.

"They took no responsibility and I've never actually talked to a human being," she said.

While the items – including glasses, a perfume spray pump, and some kitchen equipment – were not particularly expensive, Dani said her frustration was about the principle.

Dani said: “This is a bigger problem and it’s happening all over Southampton. All these people who have fallen victim to Evri need a voice somehow. I felt so powerless."

The repeated loss of her parcels caused unnecessary stress and left her scared to order items online.

“Since my parcels have been missing, I have had things delivered to a local parcel locker where drivers can’t fake the proof, and when delivering to a locker there's never a problem,” Dani said.

An Evri spokesperson said: “Evri handles 900 million parcels a year with the vast majority being delivered successfully on time. "

"We’re sorry that the service Dani has experienced falls below the standards we expect and we have offered a gesture of goodwill.

"The driver, who was working for a third-party contractor, will no longer be delivering for us and the local team will be closely monitoring deliveries in the area.”
