A man from Swanley has been charged with robbery following a report of a delivery driver being robbed.

The delivery driver, a woman in her 20s, alleged a man had assaulted her and then stolen her car.

The incident happened at around 7.30pm on Tuesday, February 15 in Hart Dyke Road in Swanley.

The car was then involved in a crash a short time after it had been stolen in Hockenden Lane in Orpington.

The area was searched by Kent Police, Met Police and a dog handler.

Alfie Rossiter, of Hart Dyke Crescent, has been charged with robbery and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.



The 52-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 17, where he was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on March 17.

Officers are asking motorists with dashcams and residents with private CCTV to check for footage that may assist the investigation.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “A suspect has been charged following a report a delivery driver was robbed in Swanley.

“The incident happened at around 7.30pm on Tuesday 15 February 2022, in Hart Dyke Road.

“The victim, a woman in her 20s, alleged a man had assaulted her and then stolen her car.

“Officers investigating the incident then attended Hockenden Lane, Orpington, where the vehicle had been involved in a collision a short while after it had been stolen.

“Following a search of the area, with the assistance of Metropolitan Police patrols and a dog handler, a man was detained.

“Alfie Rossiter, of Hart Dyke Crescent, Swanley was later charged with robbery and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

“The 52-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 17 February where he was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 17 March.

“Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to call the appeal line on 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/30575/22.

“They are also asking motorists with dashcam and residents with private CCTV to check for footage that may assist their investigation.
