Hi I have just received the forms from Equiniti where you can instruct them to either sell them or transfer them to the Royal Mail Nominee share service. This already holds my SAYE shares I brought a few years ago.
It also said if you tick a box you will receive a share certificate in your own name. I assume this means you can transfer the shares to another company? Have I read that correctly? cheers!

Re: Transferring shares on retirement
A nominee account is the way many shares are held these days, as it's easier and cheaper. You are able to transfer out to another account with a broker if you want to, which you would obviously have to set up yourself if you haven't already got one.
In the case of the free RM shares, as long as the 5 year holding period has elapsed or you're a 'good leaver', you can do what you want with them, whether they're held in a nominee account or via a certificate.
Ultimately how and where you choose to hold them is down to personal choice.
The Equiniti site has some info on the different ways you can hold shares: https://www.shareview.co.uk/4/Info/Port ... me.aspx?wp

Re: Transferring shares on retirement
I have arranged for them to transferred to the Equiniti site where my SAYE shares are currently. Wonder if or when dividends might return? Certainly not before 2022 I would expect..

Re: Transferring shares on retirement
I already had an account with the sharecentre, www.share.com. UK based with a local telephone number, (Aylesbury), so no messing about. I hold substantial funds with them, enough to live off for 5 years, which I intend to sell when needed to part fund my retirement. Especially the early years. You need to keep within the Capital Gains Tax limits to sell tax free if held outside an ISA, but that shouldn't be an issue. And as has already been stated, cheaper than an ISA.
