Depends on age and reason for leaving
Handing in your notice - you lose them unless you are over 60. But if you do so after 3 years have passed for each tranche, then you keep that tranche.
Retiring, redudnacy or IHR - You keep them.

Don't know if this advice is too late for you, but as suggested in another thread, you could ask Royal Mail for a career break of 1 year (omitting to mention you do not actually intend to return in 2017)...
this ruse would mean that in October 2016, you would technically still be an employee of Royal Mail, and thus have the initial allocation of 613 free shares transferred out of the SIP, and into your name? Worth a try, surely? You'd keep 613 shares... at today's price, that's £2700+, although you'd have to pay tax and NI on the proceeds. Plus you'd still receive the 2015/16 dividend, payable in July, of approx 13.5p/share, which is a further £82.76 (tax already paid)

You cannot do paid work during a career break so not really suitable for most peoplewandle wrote:Don't know if this advice is too late for you, but as suggested in another thread, you could ask Royal Mail for a career break of 1 year (omitting to mention you do not actually intend to return in 2017)...

Hmm ... I wonder how they police that? I was wondering about trying the career break as an option for a future emigration attempt to Europe, so as to retain my full-time job as a Postie if it didn't work out.A2B wrote:You cannot do paid work during a career break so not really suitable for most people
