A shameful day today

One of the guys in our office was proud to announce that he has bought £5000 worth of RM shares. The huge urge to break his jaw was over whelming.
He has no idea what he has done and can't see that he has no future with RM.

There were several people all discussing buying shares and laughing and joking with the guy who has already bought some and it made me madder by the minute.

Seeing as we now have diversity, can I request that all conversations about shares and buying them to be stopped, if I can hear them ?

I have done exactly that and for that reason.
£1000 of shares and will sell within two weeks at most at hopefully a decent profit.

there is nothing to stop anyone who works for RM from doing the same thing, I am lucky that I have got a little bit tucked away that I could use to make a quick profit from.

if you think that is wrong then so be it, I have to look after my family any way I can and I WILL be on the picket lines if and when we strike and I won't be doing any overtime when we return as I don't think it's right to run around to take out what was left in the office from strike days, if we clear the backlog to quick, whats the point in going on strike?

I put in to buy shares and so have a few other people in my office. We may as well try and make some money out of it because the banks and institutional investors will, plus its a few extra quid if we go on strike.

I have no problems with people crossing the picket line, that is their choice and I respect that, of course I do, and I will never say anything to anyone who does cross the picket line.

Do you think he has voted to strike then or will he cross the picket line so he can get another £300? I have no problem how he choses to invest his money but I do have a problem if he does not stand up and fight for his/your employment rights because of his investment. He may well strike and effect his investment is that not we all will do as I will with my free shares.

I have no problems with people crossing the picket line, that is their choice and I respect that, of course I do, and I will never say anything to anyone who does cross the picket line

So investing in non RM shares is OK but not in a company that we work for and know a little about ?

I see no problem with anyone having a punt on RM - the staff are not responsible for the sale and are simply hoping to make a profit to use how they see fit.

If he hadn't bought the shares they would have been snapped up by another buyer - possibly an institutional investor.

All it's taken in the past is the offer of a few quid to sway so called 'hardcore' postal workers and this is the main reason we are now at this place. Sell out, solidarity, sell out, solidarity........

What has it to do with you what others spend their money on? I've applied for £10,000 and if anyone doesn't like it, that's tough.
