Hayes on Andrew Marr Show (BBC1)...
....seemed almost resigned to privatisation, kept banging on about "protecting our members interests".
Quoted "70% of public are against it", dig at Moya and how Canada Post raises capital despite being in public ownership.
Seemed to fumble about how he can't get his head around what the ConDems are thinking!! (I can tell you Billy).
He looked dishevelled, unkempt and had no tie - IMHO he is totally unsuited to being our leader (£30K holiday pay anyone?)
A completely missed opportunity on National TV, I'll bet the RM management and the ConDems were laughing at it.

Yep, a great opportunity ruined. Confused and rambling with just one punchline he'd obviously rehearsed to get in as often as possible. Dave Ward should really do these things, at least he can think on his feet, ad-lib a bit and manages to dress smartly. But then again, why should you have to hide away your union leader!

to be fair, he was piss poor at Birmingham. but we are where we are as they say, and if we push ward pullinger and perhaps Gibson into the limelight we will get our message across with more aplomb.

He was again embarrassing in front of of the camera. A chance to get the message across to the general public and pretty much all we got was a whinge about the 5p charge on carrier bags. Thanks Billy.

Yes, repeated himself about the carrier bags, 70% against and t&c's following privatisation. No mention of the other issues such as pay, pension, b&h etc. Very disappointed.

I'm not in the union. but surely members vote as to who they want to be in charge? If he's as bad as everyone is saying why not simply vote him out?

I have to agree with most on here, he looks totally unprofessional. I thought he would've got his act together after the last fiasco in 2009.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

This link contains severe cringeworthy material, do not watch if easily embarrassed or of a nervous or anxious disposition!!
Good that Billy's brought the scandal of plastic bag politics to the attention of the public though, as they say.....it's an ill wind that blows no good!

Re: Hayes on Andrew Marr Show (BBC1)...
1. He definitely isn't Superficial, more Organic Working Class...Which we are too.
2. The Plastic bag analogy was I think, trying to point out how trivially Potential Privatisation has been highlighted by Goverment apposed to the plastic bag Campaign...
3. He is obviously Human and worn out from all the work he must have to deal with, surrounding safe guarding our T&C and pensions etc...
So please, can we show our Leader a bit more respect and understanding...admittedly Dave may have been more eloquent, but if people are aware that Billy isn't at his best at these types of interviews, WHY didn't Dave do the interview instead?

Billy Hayes is not the greatest speaker in the world, but so what?
Aren't you fed up with politicans that sound great, but have no substance.
Michael foot looked unkempt and had a walking stick and that is why he was not elected.
It didn't matter that he was a true socialist and a highly intelligent leader, oh no, he was a bit scruffy.
Is it the fact that Billy Hayes is working class?
That he comes from Liverpool?
Parliament is full of full time politicans, with the exception on Mr Johnson (ex CWU), who have never had a proper job in their life.
Yes, Billy could do with brushing up on presentation a bit, but so could I.
I have been on the radio before and found it very daunting.
So would you rather have a posh leader, who sounds great and has never been on a postal round or seen the inside of a sorting office?
