ROYAL MAIL will launch a charm offensive this week aimed at preventing postal workers from striking over its stock market flotation.

Around 150,000 workers will receive an information pack setting out the details of its £3billion flotation and highlighting its benefits.
The company has also enlisted Apprentice star Nick Hewer to front a guide to share ownership that will be broadcast on its internal TV network RMTV.
Hewer said: “I’ve worked with many large UK businesses and I’m delighted to be helping Royal Mail explain the ins and outs of share ownership.
“More Royal Mail employees will be able to participate in the Free Share scheme than in any other UK privatisation for almost 30 years.”
The Government last week announced its plan to float Royal Mail on the London Stock Exchange.

Free shares worth 10 per cent of the company will be given to Royal Mail staff and assurances have been given that their employment rights will not be reduced. Bosses hope this will avert a strike after unions warned action over pay and conditions was “inevitable”.
The Communication Workers Union will announce the result of a strike ballot on October 3.
Royal Mail chief executive Moya Greene said: “Our people are the heart of our business at Royal Mail.
“Owning 10 per cent of the company together we will have a meaningful stake in the business. This will engage everyone and encourage us to continue to work together to build a great future for Royal Mail.”
