Postal head is in dwindling minority

ANOTHER letter from the Head of Operations for Royal Mail in the South West, waxing lyrical about what he perceives as the benefits of privatising Royal Mail.

The author of this correspondence shows that he is in an ever decreasing minority. Tony Fox quotes the government but omits to mention the fact that even the Tory Back Bench pressure group (The Bow Group) have now come out against privatisation. Further, despite trumpeting the examples of Rolls Royce and British Aerospace Tony has forgotten about Gas, Electric, water and the railways all of whom offer a worse service post sell offs and at ever greater costs. The CWU will be conducting a national ballot for strike action next month to stop this madness and over the coming weeks will be meeting our members across the Bristol area.

I am therefore formally inviting Mr Fox to debate the issue of privatisation with me in front of postal workers at Bristol Mail Centre. This can be on a shift of his choice. Postal workers in Bristol and elsewhere have already made it clear where they stand, but if Mr Fox truly believes what he writes this will not be an offer he will decline.
