Royal Mail workers to be offered shares when the company are privatised

GOVERNMENT plan to hand a 10 per cent stake in the company to 130,000 employees.

ROYAL Mail employees will be offered shares in the company when it is privatised in the coming year, the Government have confirmed.

Business Minister Michael Fallon said the 130,000 staff should share in the Royal Mail's success.

He told MPs: "It is our intention to conduct a sale during the forthcoming financial year, 2013/14.

"I can confirm that at the time of that, we intend to make a share scheme available to the 130,000 employees of Royal Mail who have worked so tirelessly to turn this into a successful and profitable business and should share in that success."

The privatisation will be the country's biggest for more than 25 years, since the British Telecom and British Gas shares sales in the 1980s.

Legislation for the sell-off contained the provision that at least 10 per cent of shares would go to staff.

Fallon said: "Parliament decided two years ago that employees of Royal Mail should share in its success. I think it would be wrong to deny employees this any longer. They should be sharing in its success and in its dividends and it's our intention to have such a scheme in place at the time that we conduct a sale of Royal Mail."

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Well, he can just f**k off.

Nope, was trying to think about something else to say but that sort of sums it up for him.

Well well wonderful shares. Here's what you will get after the shares: an attack on conditions, seniority gone and finally your pay reduced one way or another. Just ask most people who worked for British gas or BT how happy they are now and all for a few quid in shares. Come on you know where they can shove em. :evil/mad

I genuinely could not be less interested. As I and many others have said elsewhere, anything we make from the shares will be wiped out in a very short space of time by loss of allowances, cuts in pay, attacks on working conditions etc. RM can keep the shares, and I'll keep my Terms & Conditions and pay the way it is.

Really? Really? Just a warning, those on temporary contracts will likely be first out, and if that's you, then you might regret wishing for something you quite obviously have no understanding of.

If you don't like the company after privatisation
Get another job simple
Lets face it how many times have you heard this jobs crap blah blah
Funny thing is its the long term staff who keep saying it
Yet they've never left shows what a cushy number it was for all them years
What was it 1-2 bags a day an hour half delivery no wonder you never left

The way things are going at RM we would be better off privatised, maybe they will get shut of half the work shy useless mangers we seem to end up with on a bi-monthly rotation.
