PRIVATISE/MANAGERS

Post by R@YAL F@IL »

Just thought I would throw this open to you all and ask if the current crop of line managers and DOM's would keep their jobs when we are Privatised, my feelings are they will not, due to them being a sheer waste of time not to mention there are too many of them drawing a wage and NOT being productive.
NO bags on shoulders please except for Moya who keeps her big fat wage packet in hers

I reckon they'll cut right down on the numbers of line managers and those that remain will become team leaders. If they can maybe you'll have one DOM cover three or 4 DOs so less DOMs needed

My personal opinion is that they'll need managers for a period of time, just to introduce the new culture. After that they will be trimmed quite significantly.

So short term they are probably safe, medium to long, better start filling out their CVs they might get head hunted. :left: :left:

Just a thought but do you not think that the sack em for anything policy Royal Mail has at the moment would make the new owners get rid of all managers so there is no recrimination in the future?

No, one way to change a culture, is to remove people who remain from the old one. Therefore, the way they get rid of FT long servers is to keep the Managers on who are already doing it for them. Once they have gone as far as they can on that, then the cull will start.

To be honest I think if they were going to get rid of operational managers pre privatisation they would have already started.

If Moya gets her way and she has been bought into to do a job Royal Mail will be privatised via and IPO a share offer and therefore all the management will remain unless changed by the current management.

Good view point TBT which I value of course but I do feel the very basic standard of management at my office in particular is of a type that new employers will cringe at, just a matter of time before they are displace if not at the onset of being privatised.
