Letter to Cameron...The Queens Head

Post by fishtank »

Hi XXXXX,

You may have seen the front page of the Daily Mail on Sunday highlighting that a private buyer of the Royal Mail would be free to remove the Queen's image from UK stamps.

An image of the monarch's head has been on every postage stamp since the very first one was issued in 1840. Yet in their rush to privatise the Royal Mail, the Coalition Government failed to ensure the Queen's image will remain on every stamp in the future.

I've written a letter to David Cameron to voice my concern about privatising the Royal Mail. Between the loss of the Queen's image on our stamps and the threat of increased postal rates and decreased service - privatisation must be stopped.

Please co-sign my letter to David Cameron now.

Many believe the rules of the sell-off are intentionally lax to entice buyers. If no one bothered to protect the image of the Queen, will they protect your community's needs?

The postal services bill fails to prevent further post office closures, threatens the one-price-goes-anywhere, six-days-a-week, universal service and allows for a privatised Royal Mail to remove the Queens head from our stamps.

As I witness so many postal workers going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure all our Christmas posts are delivered on time during this incredible winter freeze, I am more convinced than ever that we must keep the post public.

Let's send a clear message to David Cameron. Please add your name to mine now:

Obviously not  I certainly hope the stand the GS is making is well remembered when the new election takes place................makes me sorry I no longer have a vote...........although would it make a difference? Actually I'm not sorry, I don't think I could stand the holier than thou attitude if he is re-elected.

Its not about the Queens Head - its about using yet another avenue to show your opposition to Privatisation. But hey its a free world do what you want, fight it or let it roll over you. :Very Happy

spot on TBT , i would rather see a picture of a postman carrying a full postbag in 2 foot of snow, the issue is should it be a public service run well for the benefit of all or a private service and all that entails with that ?

Modernisation is working.
They can't say anything else because it would be an acceptance that we need privatisation.

If the modernisation program is seen to be failing the Tories will jump all over it.
