Postal workers taking anti-privatisation fight to London

POSTAL workers were due to head to Parliament today to convince MPs to stop the privatisation of Royal Mail.

Staff working for Royal Mail in Stoke-on-Trent will be joining colleagues from across the Midlands in London to lobby MPs on the issue.

The postal workers are heading to the House of Commons as the second reading of the Postal Services Bill will be debated.

Lee Barron, Midlands regional secretary of the Communication Workers Union, said: "CWU activists representing nearly 20,000 postal workers from across the Midlands will be making their voices heard.

"Privatising Royal Mail will lead to worsening services."

The CWU has drawn up a hit list of MPs who have low majorities, including Karen Bradley, the Conservative MP for Staffordshire Moorlands.

Mr Barron added: "If they don't listen, their majorities will be on the line."

If they don't listen their majoriities will be on the line................pardon................has a general election been called? Maybe the time for making a noise with the almost certainty that the Tories/libs would sell us off would have been before the LAST election. It's a bit silly saying "if you don't vote against in 4 years time the public will remember how you voted" - because IT IS the public who vote them in not the CWU and I doubt joe public will be remotely interested or even aware which way their MP voted 4 days down the line let alone 4 years.
